Link Love + Lowdown

Happy Friday, my friends! This week has weirdly flown by. As in, this morning I woke up and thought it was Tuesday.

...I should probably squeeze a few more hours of sleep in, on that note.

Link Love //

5 Steps for Building Your Personal Brand // Loved this article. I love branding and brainstorming ways to convey a message or a personality in a creative way, and this article was so helpful!

Modern Lovers by Emma Straub // I picked up this book at Target on my lunch break earlier this week and I can't put it down. I read The Vacationers by Emma Straub last summer and loved it, and thus far Modern Lovers is living up to my expectations!

Soma Dresses // Before I came back to Memphis for the summer, my mom and I made a quick trip to Soma and I was beyond surprised that they had some adorable dresses that are work-appropriate too. They're made out of the same fabric that their pajamas are made out of, so I feel like I'm working in my pajamas all day. 10/10 recommend.

Kate from Lonestar Southern took the time to track down 5 dupes of the famed (and hella expensive) Marysia scalloped one-piece. I might just have to forgo dinner for a few days and snag the Target one...

Lowdown //

How's it going, guys? I'm about to wrap up week #3 at my internship, and it's going really well. My boss is fabulous and is so much fun to work with/for. I'm learning a lot about the strategic side of marketing, and it's making me really excited for my first marketing class this fall (the way the Rhodes business program works is that you have to go through one semester of econ and two of accounting before you can even touch anything besides accounting. VERY excited to be done with accounting).

I'd also like to point out a major adult moment I had earlier this week - instead of going to Starbucks like I wanted to, I spent that money on toilet paper. If that isn't #adulting then I don't know what is.

Speaking of being a grown up (baby steps, y'all, baby steps), I signed up for the New Memphis Institute's Summer Experience program - a program that's purpose is to help connect interns and recent college grads to both each other and to Memphis with the eventual goal of encouraging them to launch their careers here. How cool is that?! They have a bunch of free parties/events and the first one is on Monday! Everybody and their mother is going, so obvi I had to try it out for myself (the fact that there's free dinner doesn't hurt). Sign up here, I hope to see you there!

On another note, I started watching the Bachelorette this season and finally watched both of this week's episodes last night. Our TV gets a little feisty sometimes and doesn't always want to turn on when we need it to, aka every Monday at 7 PM. Let's just say that I have a very fun call to Comcast to make. But, GUYS. Chad is terrifying!!! That last moment where he's pulling his fingers down the door?! Holy crap. He looks like he's straight out of a horror movie. Also, I'm totally pulling for either James Taylor or Jordan to be the next Bachelor.

How was your week?

  1. I finished up Modern Lovers last week! I was also a fan of The Vacationers, so I knew I had to pick up her newest book! You'll have to let me know what you thought once you finish it!

Thoughts? I want to read them!
