Link Love + Lowdown

Well, long time no see! I was absolutely swamped last week. But, only had one breakdown, so #success.

BEYONCE. FORMATION WORLD TOUR. IT'S HAPPENING. My BFF Emily and I snagged tickets last Monday thanks to the American Express pre-sale and WE ARE SO PSYCHED IT'S INSANE. Can't stop won't stop listening to "Formation."

Lately I've only been using Sharpie pens for... everything. I like the way they write and they don't bleed through paper!

If you're not following my chapter's Facebook page, go give it a look! Our VP-Community Service, Sarah, and I just launched some Girl Scout cookie graphics (or modified ones we found online to fit our chapter), and I'm obsessed with them! This one we designed from scratch, and I love how it turned out!

Once I make it to 4 PM today I will be good to go for the rest of the week. Last week I had 3 midterms as well as an event to plan, so I was a bit overwhelmed. I had a lit exam (haven't taken an English test since high school so I had to figure out how to take those again...), a cost accounting exam which my professor boasts a nice 5% passing rate to (right?!), and a stats exam too. On top of that, Tuesday morning I wasn't feeling too great, and that certainly didn't help my stress levels. Fortunately it passed, and hopefully I passed all my tests too... Woohoo, midterms!

I definitely took a quick study break to venture to Cooper Young to snap this pic though. Cooper Young has some really awesome street art and it's fun to drive around and look at it all.

My last major assignment is due today at 4 PM, and it's a paper for my American Political Thought class. The professor is a notoriously difficult grader, and the material we're writing on is very philosophical and fairly ambiguous. Some of my classmates and I went to Panera on Saturday afternoon in an attempt to figure out just exactly what the texts were saying because we were all so confused. But, I think we each figured it out, and I'll be damned if that paper isn't ready to go by 4.

On Thursday, a few hours after my stats exam, my sorority threw an alumni networking event. I'm the VP-PR, so this event was completely under my purview. It was a little nerve-wracking because we had never thrown one before, but I worked closely with the Alumni Relations Office here at Rhodes, and I think it was a success! We had a really wide range of alums, from doctors to law students to headquarters staff (benefits of being in Memphis with HQ!), and it was really satisfying to see all of the actives who attended mingling and learning from our Memphis-area alumni.

Friday after class, my friend Woze and I (that's a nickname, her given name is not Woze) ventured to Jerry's for a you-survived-this-week-treat. 10/10 recommend.

I took advantage of having a little free time and finally made a much needed grocery store run and then hung out with some friends Friday night before hitting the books (again) on Saturday to work on my political thought paper.

Saturday night we had a swap, and it was so much fun! It was 80's theme and after a stressful week, it was really nice to hang out with my sisters and just dance to corny classics. Plus I got to wear some bright workout tights so I was quite comfortable #truejoy

I'm really looking forward to dinner tonight because I have been asked to speak to a group of all-girls school college counselors about my Rhodes experience thus far. I realize it might sound corny, but it's an honor to know that the admissions office thinks highly enough of me to trust me to speak to the people that they hope will advise their students to come to Rhodes. And, as an all-girls school graduate, it's pretty cool.

Here's to a week that will (hopefully) be a little less stressful. How's your week looking?
