Love Your Melon

Some of my friends have joined a truly incredible organization, and they're doing awesome things.

Love Your Melon is an organization that was founded in 2012 by two friends in Minnesota. Their mission was simple - put a hat on every child battling cancer.

They decided that they would sell hats, from ball caps to snapbacks to beanies, and that 50% of the proceeds would be split up 50/50 (so 25% to each organization) between CureSearch and The Pinky Swear Foundation, two organizations that perform cutting edge research and provide families with a way to stay on their feet financially amidst caring for a child with cancer. Since the company is a non-profit, the other 50% go into making the company run.

Earlier this year, some of my good friends brought a Love Your Melon crew to Rhodes because they believed in the mission of the company and saw an opportunity to do some good. I am so proud of them and all of their hard work, and it doesn't hurt that their hats are incredibly cute either. ;)

As the holiday season approaches, we all have a lot to be grateful for. We all have our share of struggles, but no child should have to struggle with a disease as powerful as cancer at such a young age.

You can read more about the LYM story here, and I strongly encourage you all to pick up a hat. I bought this beanie and definitely want to grab few more for my family and friends. Be sure to select "Rhodes College Campus Crew" at the checkout too!

Let's make sure every child battling cancer has a warm hat to wear this winter.
