5 things worth splurging on as a 20-something

That nice and tight college budget is a joyful, joyful thing, isn't it?

Budget notebook is from May Books

As I get older, I've been trying to be better about managing my money. I'm really quite awful with money, as I tend to spend it on stuff I really don't need. However, there are some things in life that are worth barreling through a fair portion of your minimum-wage paycheck for. I think of them as investment items:

One // Skincare Products
Your skin is going to be there for the rest of your life, so you might as well take care of it! Invest in a couple good products to keep your skin comfortable, clear, and healthy. (PS, it's never too early to start going to a dermatologist)

Two // Bedding
Quality linens will last for years and years are well worth the cash you drop on them. In addition, a good night's sleep is priceless if you think about it!

Three // A solid wardrobe
We're talking mix and match pieces here. Pieces that fit well, make you feel good, and will last for several years. Also - a good pair of sunglasses will last for ages! If you can't see yourself wearing them in 5-10 years, they probably aren't worth the money. Classic styles that flatter your face are always great.

Four // A few pieces of art
It can be a cute print or a great painting that makes a statement. This is one that you don't have to drop a ton of cash on - there is inexpensive art everywhere! Build up a nice collection that you can see yourself decorating your dorm, your first apartment, and possibly your first house with.

Five // A computer
Whether it's a laptop or a desktop one, a good piece of technology will get you far! I've had my current laptop for the past 3 years, and it's still going strong! Get one that you think you will like for the next 5 years or so.
