Game Day

Game Day - Red & Black

Game Day - Blue (with red & orange)

For my SEC readers, game day is most likely...tomorrow.

I know you're likely dying of excitement (#rolllynxroll) but as a small school, football isn't exactly a huge deal here at Rhodes. However, a lot of my friends do attend big schools where football defines the entire weekend. For y'all, I have a few ideas for game day dresses in blue, black, and red. The accessories are mix and match - for Auburn, you've got a blue dress with an orange necklace, but for Ole Miss, you've got a blue dress and a red necklace. Black pretty much works anywhere, but as someone who has worn blue her entire life, I need some red in my wardrobe!

Best part about all of these options above - the dresses are all under $100, the shoes under $50, and the bags & accessories are too! The only thing that isn't under there is the Ray-Bans.

Insta Lately

From top to bottom, left to right:

1. A dutch braid outside of a sweet little gelato shop in North Chattanooga

2. My new crib!!! (just kidding...I meant my dorm room.)

3. Move-in day with the roomie!

4. Breakfast with the boy before we both headed into the central time zone for school.

5. The love of my life  My bed featuring some Vineyard Vines boxers

6. A J. Crew Factory hat that I had monogrammed, some tried & true Ray-Ban Wayfarers, and my new Marc Jacobs watch (similar).

7. A Rhodes red mani on top of my dorm duvet cover.

8. Another shot in the previously mentioned gelato shop. I'm slightly obsessed with that tile #noshame

9. Last but certainly not least, the sunrise over the Tennessee River. I snapped this on one of my last days in Chattanooga, and it was so worth the early morning wakeup call.

A letter to the class of 2015

Seeing as it's my first day of college classes, I found it to be fitting that this post went live today.

To the class of 2015,

First of all, congratulations on being seniors. High school is by no means an easy feat, and the fact that you got through almost all of it is awesome.

I want to take a moment to encourage you to do a few things in your brief time as a senior in high school.

First off, just apply to college. If you dedicate a weekend or two to just sitting down and cranking it out, it'll be over with, and your mom will stop stressing you out. Hopefully.

However, don't be afraid to ask your parents to chill out about college. It's a very stressful experience if you make it one, but if you make it calm, it'll be calm. It's what you make it.

Remember that you will end up where you are supposed to be. I know you'll get tired of hearing it soon enough, but it's true! My freshman year of high school I thought that I would swim for Stanford University, and clearly that didn't happen because Calculus, Physics, and shoulder injuries suck. Regardless, what I wanted out of a school changed drastically in 4 years, and it will likely change in the year you're applying to college as well. Roll with it. You may have had your heart set on Harvard, but let yourself fall in love with other schools as well. They might be better for you in the long run.

Secondly, stop focusing on your friend group. I was in classes with people I didn't really associate with normally, and I realized that I missed out on making friends with a lot of people. Of course, I did my best to become close with them in the time I had left, and I'm so glad I did, but I wish that I had done it earlier. Do it.

Third, take TONS of pictures. You will blow up everyone's Instagram feed, and you will not give a damn. Take them all. You have the right to show everyone how much fun you are having.

Do something that you never would think to do. For example, powderpuff football. I am extremely uncoordinated and terrible at running, so signing up to do that in front of boys (boys coach and watch the game) was kinda terrifying for me. But, I did it anyways, and had a ton of fun!

Finally, don't forget your parents. Mine were insane senior year. My mom was almost always freaking out about something college related, and I'll be honest, it got annoying. But as I learned last Friday when I cried saying goodbye to them, just hangout with them, occasionally, while you can. And your dogs too.

Hats off to ya, 2015.

Dorm Sweet Dorm!

Long time, no see, y'all!

I'm so sorry that my posting has been irregular, but I hope you can understand that it's because I've been saying goodbye to friends and family and hello to college!

With that being said, I wanted to show you all my new home, down here in Memphis!

Pottery Barn Teen Peyton Duvet & Sham / Pottery Barn Teen Suite Organic Sheet Set / Design Darling Pencil Cup & Business Card Holder / DIY Headboard

More decorations were added after these photos were taken, including a fan, more mugs/water bottles, a microwave, coffee maker, and mini-blender, monogram letters my sweet roomie made for me, and a few lamps!

What do you think?!
