World Beauty

1. This picture is wicked cool.

2. That's the same woman in every single photograph.

Recently, I stumbled upon an article on BuzzFeed that shined a little light upon this project. Esther Honing, a Kansas journalist, sent a simple, unedited headshot of herself off to over 40 countries to ask freelance graphic artists to photoshop their nation's standard of beauty onto her face.

On her website, she states that "all I request is that they 'make me beautiful,'" when sending her photo to these international artists.

Besides the fact that this is an absolutely fascinating concept to begin with, I found it equally compelling as to the results from each country. Some valued heavy makeup, plump lips, long eyelashes, and flowing hair. Others preferred a subdued and more simplistic approach, and some completely changed the entire picture of Esther, altering her nose, eyes, skin  tone, eyebrows, etc.

I don't want to get cliché, but I have to say - all of these photos are stunning. It is fascinating to think that the way I do my makeup here in America might be considered heinous in Morocco, or that wearing my hair in a ponytail is a shame somewhere.

Esther's project is an eye-opening visual into the eyes of the world in my opinion. What's yours?
