Power Smoothie

Please excuse me as I jump on the juice/smoothie bandwagon but...whatever they're yummy.

Personally, I just can't stomach throwing spinach in there. I know that it's super healthy and everybody loves a green smoothie nowadays, but I just can't do it.

However, I do really like my all-fruit smoothies for a reason - they are so darn good. This past week I've been under the weather thanks to all of the pollen around here. The streets are yellow around here just to give you an idea of how bad it is.

Anyways, I realized that I wanted something that would cool my sore throat, that wasn't unhealthy, and that would pack the vitamin C punch I needed.

So, into the blender went...

1 cup of frozen strawberries
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 banana
3 cubes of ice
1 cup of skim milk
2 tablespoons of almond butter
1 6oz. serving of Greek yogurt

Please note that this makes about 36 ounces of smoothie!

I usually drink about 1/3 of it before swim practice and the rest of it when I get home. With the milk, yogurt, and almond butter there's quite a bit of protein in there and the natural sugar from the fruit restores some energy and then all of those great vitamins and antioxidants kick in too, making it a great pre and post-workout drink.
